More and More Younger Pinoy are getting Diabetes

I am quite aware that more and more children and teenagers are developing type 1 diabetis but I got shock to know that type 2 diseases are also present for this age group.  Type 2 diabetes normally occurs on people on the 40’s and 50’s age group but I guess that this news shouldn’t shock me since I am just on my late 20’s when I was diagnosed having type 2 diabetes.

This is because these younger generations like to stay at home all day and play their playstation all the time.  They have forgotten how to enjoy themselves outside and sweat all day.  This has given its way to diabetes for the children.  I should know since I also type 2 diabetes.  I don’t like to go outside and I am obese most of my life so I got sick one day.

Dr. Tommy Ty Willing, chair and president of Diabetes Philippines claims that it could be delayed or avoided by taking care of their bodies with healthy diets.  Together with regular exercise, diabetes can be avoided, if you already have this then it could be controlled.  This is the reason why Dr Ty wants to convince younger generations to pursue an active life for everyone.  Whether at work, school or at home; people should be should increase their physical activities.  By doing so, you are not only lowering the chances of getting diabetes but also other diseases related to cardiovascular.

One reason maybe is the kind of food the teenagers are eating now. The influence from other food culture and the presence of food chains, fast foods, etc. They can be source of poor eating habit.

Most people get Diabetes because of the lack of exercise and overeating. We should be more aware of our lazy lifestyles and start exercising regulary to avoid Type II Diabetes.

Diabetes can be prevented by just having a physically active lifestyle. Just exercise everyday and avoid eating too much. Avoid sweets and high carb foods too.
